Labor Consultants Central, Inc. (LCC) is a consulting firm specializing in assisting in compliance efforts with federal and state labor laws and minimizing payroll costs by the modification of compensation plans and policies. We have assisted employers in labor law compliance efforts since 1961.

Company Profile

We keep our clients up-to-date with changes in labor laws brought about by legislation or significant court cases and act as a resource to management with our network of experts in practical approaches to compliance with a very inexpensive newsletter/phone service. We conduct training sessions such as workshops or seminars for management personnel, conduct off-site or on-site audits to determine compliance status and evaluate personnel policies and practices to minimize legal exposure from investigations or litigation. We can negotiate with any State and Federal Agency to resolve investigation findings, provide litigation support to your labor attorney as an investigator or an expert witness, or we can refer you to a labor attorney. Our specialties include:  

Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA):

• Minimum Wage (generally $7.25/hr currently)

• Overtime (time and one half after 40 hrs per week for most jobs) 

• Exemptions from minimum wage and/or overtime standards 

• Child Labor (under 18 years old)

• Record keeping requirements (what, how kept)

• Equal pay (no wage or job requirements based on sex)

• Sub-minimum wage certification/permits

 The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

• Deals with unpaid medical leave for employee or family members and job retention

Age Discrimination in Employment Age (ADEA)

•    Deals with Employment discrimination due to age

Various Other Government Acts

• Davis-Bacon, Service Contract Act, Public Contracts Act - deal with records, minimum or "prevailing" wages and overtime paid to employees providing services to federal, state or local governments.

• Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) - deals with record keeping (I-9's), anti-discrimination vs. authorization to hire.

• Migrant and Seasonal Workers Protection Act (MSPA) - protections for farm workers

• Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) - use of polygraphs

• Whistle Blower provisions of the Clean Water Act, Energy Reorganization and other Acts.

 Louisiana (and some other) State laws governing:

• Requirements regarding time limits on payment of last paychecks, drug testing, medical exams, child labor, etc.
